Now that you’ve accepted your offer and been admitted into UTS College, you’re ready to enrol* in your course and choose your subjects. This is the point where you select subjects and create your timetable. It’s a good idea to do this as soon as enrolment opens.

Enrolment vs Re-enrolment

  • Enrolment - is when you’re a new UTS College student, new to an academic program, or when you’re progressing from an English Language program to an academic program for the first time.
  • Re-enrolment - is when you’re continuing your academic program and selecting your subjects for the next semester. You re-enrol after you’ve completed your first semester and progress to any subsequent semesters. 

Academic Programs – your first enrolment

If you’re a Domestic Student, commencing an academic program (diploma, UTS Foundation Studies or Graduate Certificate), please self-enrol at eStudent. We recommend using the information on this page to find out what you need to do before enrolling.

International Students

International students are required to enrol on campus the week prior to their Orientation.

Fees, FEE-HELP or foreign government scholarship

You must pay your tuition fees (or provide acceptable confirmation of future payment) at the admission stage, before you enrol.

  1. If you’re using the Government’s FEE-HELP loan scheme, please submit the following at admission (before you enrol):
    A request for FEE-HELP assistance form through eStudent (You’ll find more about the FEE-HELP loan scheme by visiting FEE-HELP).
  2. If you hold a foreign scholarship, please submit the following at admission (before you enrol):
    A formal scholarship letter issued by your sponsor confirming the payment of fees, or A financial guarantee issued by your Cultural Mission or relevant government body confirming your scholarship.

You must enrol by the nominated date to avoid a late fee ($150 Late Enrolment Fee). Check the Academic Key Dates for current information.

If you’re an international student, it’s important to enrol by the specified date. Please note that we’re obliged to report failure to enrol to the Department of Home Affairs.

If you’re a domestic student who hasn’t enrolled by the specified date, you’ll be withdrawn from your program (unless you’ve arranged to defer your program with the Student Centre).

If you’re an international student, enrolled in diploma programs or UTS Foundation Studies, the Department of Home Affairs requires you to undertake a full-time study load. If you’re a domestic student, enrolled in diploma programs, you may take less than the standard published study load, but you’re normally expected to take at least two subjects per semester.

Unless there are exceptional circumstances, and you have the permission of the Program Manager, you must first successfully complete any prerequisite before enrolling in a subject.

Normally, you can’t enrol in more than the standard number of subjects for the stage of your program. In exceptional circumstances you may enrol in more than the standard number (with the approval of the Program Manager).

The last day to add a subject to your study plan is Wednesday before week one. You may only enrol in more than the published load for any stage of your program in exceptional circumstances (and only with the approval of the Program Manager).

You can drop a subject from your study plan up to and including the Census Date (which is Friday of week-four). However, if you’re an international student, it’s a condition of your student visa to enrol and attend the published subjects for each stage of your program.

If you’ve achieved an equivalent level of study at a different institution, you can seek exemption from that subject at UTS College. We recommend applying when you submit your UTS College application. You can, however, still apply for exemptions (with all necessary documentation) up until the end of week-one of your first semester. Please note that no exemptions are granted towards UTS Foundation Studies.

English Language Program – your first enrolment

English Program levels – updated score

The English Program is divided into levels. You’ll start at a level that reflects your English language ability when you were admitted. The length of your English program depends on your high score English results. It will also depend on whether you want to progress to a UTS College academic program or to UTS.

If you completed other English study after submitting your application, you may have an updated English score. If so, please provide any official documentation on the first day of orientation. That way we can make sure you are placed in the correct class.

If you don’t have a current IELTS, TOEFL or PTE(Academic) test result, you’ll need to complete the UTS College placement test on the morning of your first day.

Changing your enrolment

Sometimes your circumstances might change and you’ll need to adjust your enrolment, cancel it, or withdraw. It’s best to make these changes as early as possible. For advice and assistance with changing your enrolment, visit us at the Student Centre.
