In addition to high stakes English tests including IELTS, TOEFL-iBT, PTE(Academic) C1 Advanced and C2 Proficiency, the following alternative English language qualifications are accepted for entry to courses offered by UTS College.
a. holding an assessable qualification undertaken in English
You satisfy the UTS College English language requirements if you have an assessable qualification that was undertaken in English from one of the following countries:

What is an assessable qualification?
Assessable qualifications from the countries listed above that may be accepted as satisfying English proficiency include:
- senior secondary studies comparable to the NSW HSC
- one full year of Australian or comparable tertiary studies, including RATE associate diploma and advanced diploma, associate degree, bachelor’s degree and postgraduate studies
- comparable AQF diploma and advanced diploma
- Australian or comparable non-award studies and tertiary preparation courses, with a full-time equivalence of one year.
b. completed an acceptable qualification taught in English
If you do not have an assessable qualification from one of the above countries, but have successfully completed no less than the equivalent of one year full-time study of a UTS-recognised, government-accredited, public or private secondary/post-secondary course that is taught in English equivalent to the level of Australian Year 12 or higher, you can satisfy the UTS College English language requirement by providing an official document from your institution on the institution letterhead certifying that the medium of instruction for your qualification was English.
What is an acceptable qualification?
Acceptable assessable courses of study include:
- senior secondary studies comparable to the NSW HSC
- one full year of Australian or comparable tertiary studies, including RATE associate diploma and advanced diploma, associate degree, bachelor’s degree and postgraduate studies
- comparable AQF diploma and advanced diploma
- Australian or comparable non-award studies and tertiary preparation courses.
Note: an exemption of a high stakes English test will only be granted where the studies for which the exemption is granted were complete within the last two years.
c. completed another acceptable qualification or program in English
The following are also recognised by UTS College as meeting English language requirements:
