Alex Murphy

Alex has been with UTS College for close to 30 years, having worked in education and marketing roles, and from late 2007, in the role of Managing Director. His background is in linguistics, philosophy and Indonesian and Malayan Studies. 

During his time with the organisation, he has focussed on working with the fantastic staff at UTS College to lead improving the student experience, investing in our leadership and capability development, and expanding and diversifying the student population including transnational students. 

He is also committed to leading UTS College's engagement with First Australians, which is underpinned by the development of the Reflect phase of a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) and ongoing sponsorship of Indigenous student scholarships and the South East Aboriginal Arts Initiative.

He looks forward to the next phase of development for UTS College, which includes achieving our new vision to actualise potential and enhance lives through the power of learning, our actions and our people, embedding our integral leadership program, and launching new programs and ventures. 

Nathan Patrick

Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary

Nathan was appointed Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Company Secretary of Insearch Limited in 2010.

As CFO/Company Secretary he is responsible for UTS College's Finance and Governance activities. The Governance portfolio includes the Program Management Office (PMO), campus planning, risk management, compliance (including liaising with regulators), offshore legal entities, legal and Company Secretariat. 

During the previous 30 years, he held senior financial, management and governance positions in the professional services, manufacturing and construction industries in Australia and Asia.

His career includes 15 years in diverse roles in 'Big 4' accounting firms and five years as the Chief Operating Officer of a law firm.

He is on the management committee of the NSW Federation of Community Language Schools. He is also a member of the Audit & Risk Committee of the Australian Orthopaedic Association, and of the Corporate and Legal Issues Committee of The Governance Institute of Australia.

Nathan is a Fellow of the following organisations: Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand; The Governance Institute of Australia; The Australian Institute of Company Directors; and, the UK Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.

Peter Harris

Peter Harris

Chief Officer Partnerships and Growth

Peter leads UTS College Market and Business Development strategy as part of the leadership team. As Chief Officer Partnerships and Growth, he is responsible for all marketing, student recruitment, transnational education (TNE) partnerships, and product and business development. He is supported by Sydney staff and teams in China, Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Thailand and Malaysia.

He has overseen the expansion of the TNE program and established partnerships and wholly-owned colleges in countries throughout Asia to build capacity and increase access for students in their home country.

Peter sits on the Boards of UTS College subsidiaries in Australia, China and Sri Lanka and management boards of all TNE partnerships.

Prior to joining UTS College, Peter worked across a range of sectors and roles from professional adviser with Deloitte, founding a tech start-up and successful advertising and marketing agencies.

His not-for-profit experience includes appointments to the International Education Association of Australia (IEAA), a charity focussing on the health of our oceans, as well as volunteer work in mental health and mentoring for purpose start-ups.

Peter is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. 

Tim Laurence

Dean of Studies

Tim is the Dean of Studies at UTS College. He is an academic leader with extensive experience in higher education teaching and education management. Prior to taking up his current position at UTS College, he held the position of Associate Dean, Teaching and Learning, in the Faculty of Design, Architecture and Building at UTS.

Tim holds overall responsibility for the design, delivery and quality assurance of all UTS College pathway programs both locally and internationally.

Carol Churches

Human Resources Director

Carol joined UTS College in late 2007 as General Manager, Human Resources. She is an HR professional with 25 years of experience in multinational and privately owned organisations across FMCG, IT&T, consumer products and private education sectors.

After an early career in IT, Carol spent 14 years in various human resources roles at Unilever New Zealand & Australia. She then established a successful HR and career transitions consultancy, working with business and private individuals for six years' before joining UTS College.

Carol holds a Diploma of Business from Massey University in New Zealand.

At UTS College, Carol and the HR team facilitate the recruitment, engagement and development of staff, fostering a high performing organisation and inclusive culture.

Sally Chatterjee

Sally Chatterjee

Chief Operating Officer

Sally joined UTS College as Chief Operating Officer in August 2016. She is responsible for information and communication technology, project delivery, student admissions and services and facilities management. Sally has worked in a wide range of profit and non-profit industries. She started her career in the United Kingdom with Unilever, before moving into the media and telecommunications sectors, including roles at ITV and British Telecom. As Telecommunications Category Director for Tesco, she set up Tesco Mobile, a virtual mobile network with over four million subscribers. Sally then became CEO of Visit London, the official promotional agency for London, marketing the city in the run up to the 2012 Olympic Games.

Sally has a passion for improving the customer experience through all channels, with a particular emphasis on the digital experience.  After moving to Australia, she became Director of Customer Experience for National Parks NSW, creating new engaging experiences for visitors to parks across NSW. At UTS College, Sally’s teams focus on improving the student experience. They deliver great service and support at the moments that matter most to students, investing in the organisation’s technologies and campus facilities, and delivering key change projects across UTS College. Sally has a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Accounting and an INSEAD Master of Business Administration.
