If you’re an international student in Australia, it’s a condition of your student visa to maintain valid health insurance. This means you’ll need to maintain Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) while at UTS College.
What is OSHC?
The OSHC is medical insurance that covers the cost of emergency medical attention through the public health system. It doesn’t include physiotherapy, optical or dental care, the cost of admission to a private hospital, pre-existing medical conditions, or non-emergency ambulance service. You can take out extra insurance to cover these possible additional expenses.
You need to arrange Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) before you apply for your student visa.
Arranging OSHC
You can ask UTS College to arrange your OSHC when you apply for your program – you’ll see details on your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) for visa purposes.
If you ask UTS College to arrange OSHC on your behalf, comprehensive OSHC will be arranged through our preferred OSHC provider, Medibank. You’ll find details of the cost and duration of this cover in your offer letter.
If you prefer to make your own OSHC arrangements, you’ll need to send a copy of your policy details with your offer acceptance before your CoE is issued.
About Medibank OSHC
UTS College has an arrangement with Medibank Private. Visit the Medibank Private website for details of the OSHC cover offered by Medibank Comprehensive when arranging your OSHC exclusively through UTS College.
