UTS College Sri Lanka celebrates 5 years in business

On Thursday 7 November, UTS College Sri Lanka held its 5 Year Anniversary celebration evening in Colombo. In attendance was Lalita Kapur, the Australian Deputy High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Morwenna Shahani, CEO, UTS College, Peter Murray, Head, International Student Recruitment and Associate Professor Diep Nguyen from UTS, along with other special guests and staff, agents, and school representatives.

The event provided a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge and thank everyone who has helped UTS College Sri Lanka to succeed over what has been, at times, a challenging five years.

Since opening, the College has seen more than 950 students graduate from the programs available in Sri Lanka, including diplomas in Business, Information Technology, Engineering and Science, and UTS Foundation Studies.

“UTS College Sri Lanka is such a clear example of the College’s spirit of innovation and quality. The staff and students are wonderful, and through the College in Colombo all of you have put UTS on the map in the Sri Lankan community,” said Ms Shahani in her speech at the event.

“A huge thank you to Alison Hiscox, Principal, who is an incredible leader, and to her team Hasitha Fernando, Head of Sales and Marketing, Samindie Karunaratne, Head of Finance and Administration and Dilruk Warnakula, Head of Academic, and to all the wonderful, caring staff. It was a highlight to be able to celebrate with you,” she added.

The team recognised the support they have received from both UTS College and UTS in Sydney – in particular, from Peter Harris, Executive Director, Future Students, UTS College, who was key to establishing and opening the campus in Sri Lanka.
