On Saturday 15 October 2022, the official Launch Ceremony for our new partnership with Premier University (PUC) and the Bangladesh Education and Research Institute (BERI) was held in Chattogram, Bangladesh.
The new partnership launches our degree pathway programs in Bangladesh, with students having the option of enrolling in a Diploma of IT or Diploma of Business.
The 500-seat auditorium at PUC was standing room only, with a welcome by Dr Arif Jubaer from BERI, our marketing partner.
The keynote address was delivered by His Excellency, Mr Jeremy Bruer - Australian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, followed by speeches from Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury Nowfel MP - Deputy Minister of Education, and Alex Murphy.
Concluding reflections were made by Professor Anupom Sen - Vice Chancellor of PUC, before signatories were joined by guests for lunch.
Jeremy Bruer said: “Education and skills development are very important to Australia’s development partnership with Bangladesh...we applaud the Bangladesh government for its decision to permit foreign universities to open branch campuses or study centres such as the one we’re here to celebrate today: UTS’s partnership with Premier University.
It’s a partnership that offers people in Bangladesh a fantastic opportunity to gain a diploma in business or IT — accredited to UTS - and the opportunity to articulate to the second year of any business or IT bachelor’s degree at UTS Sydney.”
Discussions on creating a TNE pathway commenced in July 2019, and despite the delays from the pandemic, it has finally launched with the persistence, agility, and engagement of all departments at the College.
