Think you're not "smart enough" for uni and everyone else is miles ahead? That nagging self-doubt has a name: imposter syndrome. And it’s more common than you think, especially if you’ve taken time away from study.
Tahlia knows the feeling well. She was convinced her Year 12 results had closed the door on her dream of studying medicine. But with the support of her teachers at UTS College, things changed:
“They really went above and beyond to make sure we understood the content and were confident to carry out our assignments.”
Paniora (aka “Pnuks”) felt out of place too. Going straight into the workforce after finishing high school, he wasn’t even sure uni was for people like him. But UTS College helped him find the right path:
“It was a friendly environment that fostered really good, long-lasting friendships… tailored support… helped me smash out my goals.”
Even Lewin, who struggled through high school, found a new level of belief once he started his diploma.
“I just kind of threw myself into my diploma. I’m really proud that I was able to stick at it.”
At UTS College, you won’t be left to figure things out on your own. You’ll learn alongside students who’ve also taken a different path and you’ll be supported by staff dedicated to help you succeed.
Now, Tahlia is on track to becoming a doctor. Pnuks is already crushing it as a social media influencer. Lewin dreams of being the next David Attenborough.
Imposter syndrome doesn’t go away overnight, but as our students can tell you firsthand, it gets quieter with every opportunity you take. And at UTS College, you’ll have plenty of those.
