I need help with adjusting to new ways of learning
Support from your peers
Over the course of your studies you may come across 'Peer Helpers' in the class room. Their role is to provide you with additional learning support in class. They may help clarify terms, assist you to prepare for assessments and class activities, help you to engage and participate in class and work with you to increase your understanding of what is expected of you in the subject. Peers in the class room are there for you to ask questions and seek support with your studies.
Learning support
If you’re having difficulties adjusting to your course, one of our peer support programs may be a good fit. Get tips for doing well from those who know best. Not only do our peer tutors provide assistance with specific subjects, they also help you develop strategies for adjusting to learning at UTS College Our peer mentoring service provides support with personal issues as well as emotional support for students requiring additional assistance managing their studies. Subject coordinators are also available for both weekly drop in sessions and online help.
I want to talk to a friend
Peer mentoring
Sometimes, you just want to talk to someone who understands what you’re going through. Peer mentors are experienced students who can help you settle into your new personal life at UTS College. Talk to your mentor about how to deal with issues like:
- Feeling alone, depressed, or anxious
- Breaking up with a boyfriend/girlfriend
- Feeling homesick
- Having trouble making new friends
Your mentor is a trusted friend who understands and wants to help. They’ll direct you to the appropriate resources. To meet a mentor, just complete the expression of interest form which will be sent to your UTS email address. For more information about the program, email AdvisersDiploma@utscollege.edu.au
