This means you have met your program's entry requirements and have been successfully accepted into your program.

After you are admitted to UTS College, you will need to enrol in your program, select your subjects and classes and set up your class timetable. You will also need to attend your welcome and program orientation (known as 'Welcome Week) before classes begin.
The census date is the last date students can withdraw from a subject or program, or apply for a leave of absence without being liable for fees or penalities.
A diploma stream is an approved group of X credit points of related subjects. It is similar to a degree major.

Some examples of UTS College diploma streams include:
  • Design (Diploma of Design & Architecture)
  • Architecture (Diploma of Design & Architecture)
  • Media Business (Diploma of Communication)
  • Digital and Strategic Communication (Diploma of Communication)
  • Life Sciences (Diploma of Science)
  • Physical Sciences (Diploma of Science)
This is when an application can be made directly to a higher education provider, rather than through UAC or another tertiary admissions centre. You can apply direct to UTS College.

FEE-HELP is an Australian Government loan scheme designed to assist eligible students in paying part or all their tuition fees. Australian citizens, holders of humanitarian permanent resident visas and some New Zealand citizens are eligible for FEE-HELP assistance.

During the application process you will be asked to submit a ‘Request for FEE-HELP’ form which will be assessed by our team. Instructions on how to complete the form will be provided to you in your offer letter.

If you’d like further information on FEE-HELP you can download the study assist FEE-HELP booklet.

A Grade Point Average (GPA) is the calculated average of all grades received over a specific study period. For domestic students, this study period is the full length of the diploma. In order to progress to UTS, domestic students must meet the academic requirements, based on their GPA score.
For entry to a UTS College diploma, domestic students are required to meet a minimum HSC subject average, rather than achieve the minimum ATAR for entry. The HSC subject average is calculated out of 8 of your HSC units:
  • Your best 2 units of English, plus
  • 3 of your best board-developed courses
For example, Sam received the following marks:
2 Unit English (70%), 2 Unit Maths (58%), 2 Unit Photography (71%), 2 Unit Art (74%), 2 Unit Japanese (62%).
Sam's HSC subject average is English (71%), plus her top 3 board-developed courses: Photography (75%), Design (78%), Japanese (65%).
71+70+78+65/4 = 69.25%.

Sam is interested in studying design and is eligible to enter a Standard 12-month diploma of Design & Architecture which requires a minimum HSC subject average of 67%.

Pathways (or education pathways) offer alternative options for entry into university if you don't meet the university's entry requirements. UTS College is the pathway to UTS, offering guaranteed entry to a UTS degree, with most diplomas allowing you to fast-track to 2nd year UTS.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) means getting credit for any previous study related to the subjects in your chosen UTS degree.

For example, our diplomas offer the following credit points which can be put towards selected UTS degrees as 'recognition of prior learning'.
  • 48 credit points for diplomas in Business, Engineering, Information Technology or Science
  • 52 credit points for a Diploma of Communication
  • 36 credit points for a Diploma of Design & Architecture
All of our diplomas are designed in collaboration with UTS and cover the same or similar content as first year UTS. This means that upon successful completion of a UTS College diploma, students don't have to study most UTS first-year subjects.

Students can fast-track to the second year of their UTS degree, or benefit from a lighter study load throughout the course of their UTS degree. Which year a student enters their UTS degree (first or second year) depends on the UTS College diploma they choose and also on their UTS degree entry requirements.
