Are you ready to start building your career? It’s never too soon. Even though your studies are designed to set you up for professional success, there’s always more you can do to give yourself the best chance of landing your dream job. A little bit of extra know-how can be a big advantage in today’s job market. That’s why UTS College is introducing CareerSmart. It’s a six-week program consisting of five practical one-hour workshops. You’ll learn important skills like:
- how to write a CV and cover-letter that get noticed
- how to write for selection criteria
- how to answer tricky interview questions
- how to handle a face-to-face interview with confidence
- volunteering, work, and leadership opportunities
You’ll also chat with a Student Success Adviser so you can identify goals and explore your career options and study pathway.
Get ready to shine
The CareerSmart program includes a range of online career and job resources in Canvas, with the option of a one-on-one mentoring and career counselling session with a Student Success Adviser. Even before you begin, we’ll get you ready to shine with pre-workshop activities. That way, you’ll have an advantage from the start.
CareerSmart will be available to all students from Week 1 of Semester 2 (you can register on canvas courses once you’ve enrolled). This follows a successful pilot program during Semester 1 involving student leaders. Here’s what some of them had to say:
“This kind of knowledge is important for current diploma students and those going forward to their bachelor's degree. I would definitely recommend it to my friends. In fact, I’ve already started recommending it.” (Khushi)
“It was absolutely fantastic. I would rate it ten out of ten because the instructors were so knowledgeable and supportive. Their advice was really practical and insightful. The thing I like most about the program is its hands-on approach. Instead of just talking about theoretical concepts, we apply things to real life scenarios. That makes everything more effective, and more enjoyable as well.” (Yang)
“I would definitely recommend it to my friends and other students if I get a chance to talk to them. I rate CareerSmart as the ‘must-join’ program for you during your time at UTS College.” (Minh)
If you want to move on to the next stage of your study journey with confidence and clear goals, this could be just the advantage you’re looking for.
