Winning a UTS College Outstanding Graduate Prize is something to be proud of. It’s a cash prize ($5000 AUD) awarded to the full-time student who achieves the highest overall Grade Point Average (GPA) in their diploma program. It takes a lot of effort and dedication.
We asked UTS College graduate, and previous Outstanding Grad winner, Tahlia, to dish out her top 5 study tips. These tips got her through her Diploma of Science and are currently helping her progress through her Bachelor of Advanced Science (Pre-Medicine) degree at UTS. Here’s what she had to say:
- Stay organised!
Don’t just rely on your memory to remember all the things you might have to do - whether it’s with a diary or even your phone calendar, make sure to stay on track with your classes and set reminders for upcoming due dates. - Find your study space
Everyone has their own preferred environment to study in – try to find out what study space works best for you, whether it’s at home, at your local library, alone or with a group of friends. - Use your subject outline
Each subject will come with an outline that details all the learning outcomes, class schedules and assessment due dates which you can use to organise yourself for the semester. - Don’t be afraid to reach out
UTS College and UTS have so many support services to help you throughout your studies. If you find yourself struggling, don’t hesitate to reach out to a Study Success Adviser, your program manager, your teachers or even your fellow peers. - Take breaks
Don’t feel like you need to study for hours on end to be successful at university – it is super important to step away from your work and take regular breaks to refresh your mind and increase your productivity and focus.
