Established at UTS in 2015, the Centre for the Advancement of Indigenous Knowleges is an an Indigenous academic centre of expertise, with a focus on implementing the Indigenous Graduate Attributes strategy. This is designed to help all UTS graduates develop Indigenous professional competencies, appropriate to their profession.

Each faculty is looking at how they can support this program in their own teaching and learning. In each faculty, key contacts - known as Champions -  work with colleagues, and advise staff who are developing curriculum and supporting the promotion of Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing. These champions also advise staff on applying for teaching and learning grants to fund relevant related projects.

“We are pleased to be part of the UTS community contributing to the implementation of Indigenous Graduate Attributes strategy,” said UTS Insearch Managing Director, Alex Murphy.

“The Centre for the Advancement of Indigenous Knowledges has ambitions plans to progress the Indigenous Graduate Attributes project, deliver Indigenous focused postgraduate programs, build community and industry partnerships, quality research projects and contribute. We are proud to support them in vision,” he said

UTS Insearch is contributing $1.25 million over five years to support the Centre, encouraging the awareness and development of understanding of Indigenous knowledge.
