Did you know 20% of first-year students in Australia drop out of uni each year^? That’s a pretty big proportion and there are lots of reasons for this: students might not feel uni is the right ‘fit’, it’s a struggle to keep their grades up, or their course just wasn’t what they expected or what they’re passionate about.

This is where UTS College helps. As an education pathway, UTS College helps prepare you for university study and build all the skills you need to succeed at UTS and beyond.

You’ll learn how to think and work independently, how to collaborate in groups, build your communication skills, improve your time management, and much more.

You’ll discover outside of high school in the ‘real world’ what you’re good at, what drives you, and what sort of career and study options interest you.

UTS College is also the pathway to UTS and the only pathway that guarantees* entry to UTS. We make sure you’re supported, set up and ready to take on the challenges of study at the uni of your dreams.

As the pathway to UTS, our diplomas are designed in collaboration with UTS and cover the same course material as first-year UTS students.

The main difference though, is support. When you’re studying at UTS College you get extra support to prepare you for university study and the transition to UTS.

Unlike first year uni, when you graduate from UTS College, you also receive a higher education diploma.

That’s why when you successfully complete a UTS College diploma, you’ll receive guaranteed entry* to your corresponding UTS degree.

No. If your child successfully completes an accelerated or standard Diploma in Business, Communication, Design & Architecture, Engineering, IT or Science, they won’t need to start uni from the very beginning.

That’s because our programs cover the same course material as first year UTS so once you graduate from UTS College, you can put your diploma credits towards your degree. In fact most of our diplomas let you jump straight into 2nd year UTS** without any delay.

Semester 2, 2024 intake starts on Tuesday 11 June (Welcome Week) and classes commence on Monday 17 June.

Domestic students are not assessed on ATAR. Entry is based on your HSC subject average which must include English and your top three non-VET subjects.

Below are the minimum HSC subject averages needed for our diplomas:

  • 75% for the Accelerated (eight month) diploma
  • 67% for the Standard (12 month) diploma

UTS College diplomas are offered over eight months (accelerated) or 12 months (standard).

The diploma program you undertake will be based on your child's HSC subject average and the pace of learning they wish to undertake. For example, the eight-month accelerated program has a slightly higher study load and therefore requires a higher HSC subject average for entry.

We offer premium higher education diplomas and as a private institution we don’t receive government funding. We also limit our classes to less than 20 students, so students benefit from our personalised approach to learning.  The investment is $35,000 for an accelerated (8 month) or standard (12 month) diploma. The extended diploma (16 months) is $44,000.

Eligible Australian students can apply for FEE-HELP, which means you can study now and pay later.

FEE-HELP is an Australian Government loan scheme designed to assist eligible students in paying part or all their tuition fees. Australian citizens, holders of humanitarian permanent resident visas and some New Zealand citizens are eligible for FEE-HELP assistance.

During the application process you will be asked to submit a ‘Request for FEE-HELP’ form which will be assessed by our team. Instructions on how to complete the form will be provided to you in your offer letter.

If you’d like further information on FEE-HELP you can download the study assist FEE-HELP booklet.

When your child completes their diploma, they will receive a Grade Point Average (GPA). Students who meet the minimum GPA for their desired course at UTS will receive a guaranteed place. And, depending on the course chosen, your child may also be able to fast-track to second year at UTS. GPA requirements for each UTS degree can be found in our student guide.

Australian students can apply online, or if you’d like any help with your application you can call the UTS College team on free call 1800 896 994.

* For international students guaranteed entry to UTS is based on no more than two subject failures. For domestic students you must achieve the required Grade Point Average.
** Entry to second year of UTS depends on the course you choose. See individual course pages for details.
