So, what is UTS College anyway?

How UTS College can help you get to UTS.
How UTS College can help you get to UTS.

Google UTS College, and the first thing to come up will probably be something like ‘pathway provider to University of Technology’. That’s true, but it leaves some people scratching their heads. What does it even mean? And what’s the difference between us and UTS? Why do we even exist?

If you want vison statements, statistics, and stuff, you’ll find all that on our About Us page. What it boils down to is we’re here to help you find your way to your dream degree at UTS. We’re a friendly little college that lives on the UTS campus. Our UTS Foundation Studies and English language programs prepare international students to succeed at an Australian university. We even have a high school program for international students who want to study STEM at UTS.

We’re here for international and domestic students
Then there are our diploma courses, open to international and domestic students. While these courses have similar learning results as first year at UTS, our classes are smaller (no more than 20 in a tutorial group) with a higher level of support and guaranteed entry to UTS* on successful completion. In most cases, you can fast-track from your diploma to second year of the corresponding degree.

Here’s an example. Say you wanted to study Bachelor of Engineering at UTS, but you missed out on the ATAR for that course. That’s disappointing, but there’s no need to despair. We can still get you there. Successfully complete a Diploma of Engineering at UTS College, and you can fast-track to second year of your bachelor’s degree at UTS. You won’t have missed a thing. Your diploma will give you the skills and knowledge you need to thrive at uni (with a little extra know-how to set you up to do your best). UTS College offers diplomas in Animation Production, Business, Communication, Design and Architecture, Engineering, Information Technology, and Science.

What our graduates say
The other thing you should know is that we’ve been helping students achieve their dreams for more than 35 years (before we were UTS College, we were known as UTS Insearch). Whatever you call us, we’ve been changing the lives of thousands of students (locally, and across 75 different countries) every year. So, it’s fair to say we know what we’re doing, and we know that it works. But don’t take our word for it. Here’s what some of our students say:

“I always liked talking to my teachers – about the work and about random stuff – and I really liked the studio. The final studio project was my favourite. You got to build on something for a whole semester. It was like a real, professional project. UTS College got me into university, and they were always supportive. I never felt like I didn’t understand an assignment.” (Domestic student Eligh Wilson, who moved on to a Bachelor of Design in Architecture after completing his Diploma of Design and Architecture at UTS College)

“Before I started my diploma, I was very confused. But UTS College was amazing. It made me feel like I had much more control over my education and my career path. The teachers were great, and the College has helped me immensely.” (Domestic student Tishanie Ratnappuly, who moved on to a Bachelor of Communication, majoring in journalism, after completing her Diploma of Communication at UTS College)

“There’s a lot of assistance. The teachers are all very helpful and I think they’re my best memory. They were patient enough to answer all my questions. And because the class is small – there were less than 20 people in my class – we got more one-on-one time and there were opportunities to ask questions.” (International student Isanne Chan, who moved on to a Bachelor of Advanced Science, majoring in Pharmaceutical Science, after completing her Diploma of Science at UTS College)
