Yes, but please do this discreetly so you don’t disturb the ceremony*. To do this:

*Please remain in your seats when the academic procession enters and exits The Great Hall.
Arriving for your ceremony
Remember that your clothes will be seen when you walk across the stage. We recommend neat, business casual attire.
On the day, you will be loaned the following items:
- Gown - The gown is worn over the top of your clothes, like a jacket.
- Sash – The sash is a long strip of cloth worn over the top of your gown.
- Trencher – If you're a Diploma recipient, you'll receive a trencher (graduate hat) to keep.
Dress code restrictions
To maintain the formality of the event, the following attire is not permitted:
- Ripped jeans
- Thongs (flip-flops)
- Singlets or t-shirts
The gowning room opens 2hrs before the ceremony starts at 12pm.
We recommend graduates arrive 2hrs prior to the graduation ceremony commencing, as registrations and gowning take time. You should be checked in 60 minutes before the ceremony starts and gowned immediately after check in.
The check in desk will close at 12:45pm.
All graduates must be seated 30 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony, for a mandatory briefing.
Head to Level 5 of the Tower Building (Building 1), outside the Great Hall.
- Check-in at 12pm: Present your confirmation email at the check-in desk. You’ll receive a name card, which you must hold onto and bring with you onstage
- Gowning until at 1pm: After check-in, you’ll be guided to the gowning room, where volunteers will assist you in correctly wearing your graduation regalia:
- Foundation students will receive a sash to wear over their gown.
- Diploma students will receive a trencher (graduation cap) to keep.
- Briefing at 1:10pm: Once gowned, you’ll be directed into the Great Hall for a mandatory briefing before the ceremony.
- Guests: will wait outside and will be ushered into the hall closer to the ceremony start time

If you have completed UTS Foundation Studies, you are eligible to graduate, even if you are continuing with your Diploma at UTS College.
During the ceremony
Before the ceremony begins, there will be a mandatory briefing to guide you through the proceedings and ensure you feel prepared for your moment on stage.
The ceremony marks the completion of your UTS College studies and the start of your next chapter—whether that’s continuing at UTS, further studies, or new opportunities ahead.
You can also buy gifts at the new ActivateUTS shop in UTS Building 10 opposite Alumni Green.

No. Out of respect for all graduates, their families and friends, the academic procession, UTS College staff and the occasional speaker, departing the ceremony early is strictly not permitted.
Once you have crossed the stage, you should return to your assigned seat. Guests should also remain in The Great Hall for the full duration of the ceremony.
If you need to leave the ceremony early for any reason, you must return your gown immediately after exiting The Great Hall.
After the ceremony
You’ll receive your academic record via My eQuals (Australia and New Zealand’s official tertiary credentials platform), after you successfully complete your program. Your testamur (certificate) and academic transcript will be issued on the secure My eQuals platform.
You will be sent an email to your personal email address, which you provided at the beginning of your course. You will be asked to create your My eQuals account to access your academic record.
