Cost of living
Living in a beautiful city like Sydney doesn't have to be expensive. In fact, Australia is very cost-effective when compared to other western countries such as Canada, the UK or the USA. As a general guide, on average, you will need around A$18,876 - A$27,872 for living expenses for one year. This covers accommodation, food, transport and clothing.
The Department of Home Affairs requires that prospective international students must demonstrate access to a minimum of A$20,290 per year to fund their living costs in Australia.
- For international students, visa information can be obtained through your preferred Education Agent
- Course fees are found in the Courses & Programs section
- For Australian students, you can investigate FEE-HELP loan (formerly known as HECS, or also known as Study Assist)
Health cover
When it comes to your health it's important to have the right protection in place.
International students are required to hold medical insurance known as Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of their student visas.
OSHC helps with the cost of medical treatment if you have an accident or get sick.
UTS College can help arrange this for you and your family. Talk to us if you need help to organise cover for yourself, you and your spouse or you and your dependent family members who will be living in Australia with you.
If requested, we can outline the fees payable for OSHC in your offer letter.
Alternatively, students or their education agent can arrange health cover. Students must show proof that they have OSHC arranged before applying for a student visa.
For the latest cover and policies and fees please visit Medibank's OSHC.
Public transport
Sydney public transport is modern, reliable and safe. There are many forms of transport to choose from, including ferries, trains (and light rail) and buses, all very close to the UTS College campus.
