Eight international students who have arranged their Medibank Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) through UTS College are the latest winners of the Medibank International Education Scholarship. This cash prize is awarded to the top performing student in the first stage of UTS Foundation Studies, and the highest performing students from the first stage of any UTS College diploma program in a single semester.

The rewards of hard work and a willingness to leave the comfort zone
It’s no small thing to achieve excellent academic results while adapting to the challenges of life in a new country.
Riki, for example, has worked hard to embrace a new language. “English is still hard for me,” he says. “Half the time I think of the right sentence about ten seconds too late. I work on it every day. The thing is to keep showing up.”
On-campus events like Welcome Week help international students settle into their new surroundings.
Xinya says learning to live independently overseas has helped her confidence. “I’ve learnt to manage daily chores, handle study stress, and solve life problems on my own,” she says.
Neo is proud to have pushed himself out of his ‘comfort zone.’ He says, “I’ve made new friends, experienced extracurricular opportunities, and developed new skills since coming here.”
Each scholarship is worth $1,000 ($500 for a shared prize) and is credited directly to the student’s accounts. We’re very proud of all these winners have achieved and wish them continued success throughout their studies and beyond.
