eduroam (education roaming) is the secure, world-wide roaming access service developed to allow students, researchers and staff from participating Universities to get wireless connectivity across campus and when visiting other participating Universities. The main idea is to be able to connect to wireless networks from other institutions using the credentials from the user's own uni.

Connecting to eduroam

UTS College staff can connect to the eduroam network using their staff username and password. Students can connect to eduroam using their UTS email address eg 12345678@uts.edu.au, and password.

To use UTS College eduroam your will need to set up the UTS College eduroam profile on your laptop or mobile devices before traveling to the institution that you intend to use it. 

Visitors to UTS College using eduroam

Visitors to UTS College from participating institutions can access the eduroam network using the login credentials from their home institution.

Please use the wireless network according to IT Policies and Guidelines.

Connecting to your device

These instructions help you to connect your iOS device to UTS College wireless using eduroam

You will need: 

  • to be UTS College staff
  • have your UTS College username and password
  • to be connected to the internet

If you are connecting to eduroam on an iOS device for the first time you will need to view available Wi-Fi networks by following the steps below

Tap Settings, then Wi-Fi

Tap to select eduroam from the list of available wi-fi services

Tap to select eduroam from the list of available wi-fi services

Enter username, which is your UTS College email address followed by @insearch.edu.au, for example: Firstname.Lastname@insearch.edu.au

Enter your UTS College account password and tap Join

Tap Trust on the certificate and your eduroam will be connected

Try forgetting the network by following the below steps:
1. At the bottom right, in the Windows system tray, click the network icon or the Wi-Fi icon and choose "Network & Internet settings".
2. Click "WiFi" then "Manage Know Networks" then select the "eduroam" entry.
3. Click Forget.
4. Close the "settings" dialogue box.
5. Re-join eduroam by following the instruction listed on this page.

These instructions help you get started using eduroam. You will:

Visitors to UTS College

Visitors to the University of Technology Sydney from participating eduroam institutions can access the eduroam network by using settings and login credentials from their home institution.

Select Wi-Fi icon on the top right of the tool bar.

Select eduroam from the list of available wi-fi services

Enter username, which is your UTS College email address followed by @insearch.edu.au, for example: Firstname.Lastname@insearch.edu.au

Enter your UTS College account password and click Join

Select Wi-Fi icon on the top right of the tool bar.

You will now be prompted to Verify Certificate. The certificate should look like the below. Click Continue.

Enter your UTS College account password and click Join

You will now be prompted to enter your MAC login username and password. Enter as required and click update settings.

Verfiy Certificate

You should now be connect to eduroam on your imac.

To verify you are connected to the network click on the wifi icon on the top right hand corner. Eduroam should now have a tick next to it.

These instructions help you to connect your Windows 10 laptop to wireless using eduroam.

You will need: 

  • to be UTS College staff
  • to have your staff username and account password
  • to be connected to the internet 

Please note that this process may differ if you are using Windows 7 or below.

Select the Wi-Fi symbol near the time and date on your Windows 10 taskbar

Select eduroam from the list of available networks then select Connect

 

Insert your UTS College full username and password

 

Enter username, which is your UTS College email address followed by @insearch.edu.au, for example: Firstname.Lastname@insearch.edu.au

Enter your UTS College account password and click OK

If prompted click Connect

You should now be connected to eduroam.

Choose Phase 2 authentication as MSCHAPV2

Choose Ca Certificate as "Use System Certificates".

For Staff, enter username, which is your UTS College email address followed by @insearch.edu.au, for example: Firstname.Lastname@insearch.edu.au

Enter your UTS College account password and click Join

For student, enter username, which is your student number followed by @uts.edu.au, for example: 12345678@uts.edu.au

Enter your UTS account password and click Join

Leave the Anonymous Identity field blank

In the Password field input your UTS College account password

Enter the below domain name in the field:
For Staff: wifi.insearch.edu.au
For Student: nac.itd.uts.edu.au

Tap Connect

The screen will display that eduroam is Connecting and change to connected
