Laying the foundation to UTS

“I think the number one most valuable aspect of Learning.Connected is the pre-tutorial learning. It's great to have knowledge of what you are going to cover in a tutorial before you go in. Knowing what is going to be worked on during the class is extremely beneficial. You come to class ready and prepared, which I find incredibly important.

“For me, I allocate one day, like a Saturday, to do all my pre-tutorial work, then during the week I have time to go back and revise, and focus on the quizzes and questions in the videos. It allows me to solely focus on contributing answers in class, rather than worrying about jotting things down and trying to learn concepts and apply them in the same lesson. It takes away the anxiety and stress, because you already understand the concepts and know what’s coming.

“I would describe Learning.Connected as a type of hybrid learning. You learn the basic concepts before class, then you apply and solidify them in class, work through the worksheets and examples with your teacher, and ask any questions you have.

“If I have questions or need feedback from my teachers, they're always willing to meet me or make a time to catch up. Or if I'm struggling with something, they’re always more than willing to help and assist. The content available on Canvas after the tutorials is also great. There are a lot of resources. I have never thought, ‘Oh I wish there was more’ – it’s all there.

“I can honestly say that I ran into no challenges with this style of learning. It’s very consistent and my marks have improved. I am studying two subjects using the new curriculum and I can see the differences immediately. It’s so much easier to follow, especially on Canvas. Everything is well laid out and easy to find. I also think it’s a really good stepping stone to what’s to come in future, and to have that foundation going into university.

“It's been quite nice for me as an international student to start online. It’s taught me about presenting on Zoom and making that really engaging. And it’s great, because you’re still very much connected to students, to teachers, to everything that’s readily available wherever and whenever. I’ve never once felt like I was stuck or alone.

"I think one of the most valuable assets that the College has is the Student Advisory Group. It’s such a good idea to have that platform for the students to be open and honest about what they're experiencing and be able to provide feedback. UTS College has been absolutely amazing. From the staff members to the curriculum, everything has been fabulous and exceeded my expectations. I am so happy that I chose UTS College. I never want to leave.”
