Urbanest Darling Square

Urbanest Darling Square is located just a short walk from the UTS College Blue Building and gives you the perfect combination of convenience and flexibility. You can explore the array of international flavours on your doorstep or make meal times a joint effort by cooking with students you’re sharing your apartment with or simply cook solo.

  • Twin Share Room with ensuite in an eight-person apartment,
  • Single Room with ensuite in a five-person apartment, or
  • Large Studio with double bed.

Urbanest Darling House

Adjoining Darling Square, Urbanest Darling House takes your accommodation experience to the next level offering a fully-catered option. Every day the team of chefs at The Eatery will freshly prepare your meals - breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sourcing the highest quality ingredients and creating a variety of nutritionally-balanced meals that taste delicious are a priority. With coffee stations, freshly squeezed juices, ice-cream and yoghurt, the only decision you need to make is whether to dine in or grab and go.

Welfare arrangements for U18s

If you are an international student under 18 and live at Urbanest, (Urbanest Darling Square and Urbanest Darling House only) you must enter into approved welfare arrangements with our partners ISA Guardians & Welfare Services. View their Service Agreement. The UTS Accommodation Team will forward your details and engage with the primary contact on your Urbanest form to request relevant documents to proceed with the application. Booking, fees and terms and conditions

To register your interest, please follow these instructions:

  1. Please review the Under 18 application form and agreement or the Over 18 application form for more information on room types, rates and contract dates for 2020, and complete the form. Please be advised there is a A$350 administration fee for every application.
  2. Email the completed form to Urbanest will confirm the accommodation request via email and will include the UTS College accommodation team in the correspondence.
  3. Please put ‘UTS College Under 18 Application’ or UTS College Over 18 Application’ in the subject line of your email.

Note, Urbanest leases are for one year, with some options for six months.

Airport transfer

Students under 18 must have UTS College approved transport arrangements. This is provided at a cost of $160. This means you must select ‘YES’ for the UTS College Airport Pick Up option on the Urbanest application form for under 18s.

If you wish to use your own preferred transport for subsequent airport transfers, you will need to submit a Request to Waive UTS College Approved Transport form to the Accommodation Team at

If you are an international student over 18, you can request for UTS College to arrange your transport from the airport at a cost A$160. Email your request for an airport transfer to and please put ‘Over 18’s Airport Transfer Request’ in the subject line of your email.

Changing your accommodation

The Urbanest policy states that if a student wants to break their contract they need to find a replacement. For Urbanest Darling House and Urbanest Darling Square they may replace by any other student. At Urbanest Quay Street, anyone wanting to break the contract must find another UTS College student to take over their lease.

Taking a holiday

You can take a holiday but there are different arrangements for diploma students, UTS Foundation Studies students and English language students. You can find a full list of student holidays on the Important dates page.

Note, you would normally keep paying for your accommodation at Urbanest while you are on a short holiday. If your break is longer, you would need to end you lease at Urbanest and take all your belongings with you.

If you would like to return to your home country for a holiday you need to complete a Homestay Holiday Application form and submit the completed form two weeks prior to leaving Australia to: Instructions are contained in the form.

If you are wanting a holiday within Australia with parents/family members you will need to complete a Short Stay Application form and submit no later than two weeks prior to the start date to:  Instructions are contained in the form.

Remember to update your student info

Once you move out of Urbanest, you will need to update your address and any other changes contact details on eStudent.
