We want to make your first experience of UTS College as smooth and enjoyable as possible. So, we take care of enrolment for you – but there are still some important things to know about.

Read through the information on this page to find out about the enrolment process, classes and English levels, timetables and more.

When and how to enrol

As an English language student, you do not need to enrol.

UTS College will finalise your enrolment once you arrive to start your program and you will be sent an email with a link to your timetable information. This will happen during your first week at UTS College.

Before enrolment

You will need to activate your UTS email accounts before we finalise your enrolment for you. This will allow you to receive important emails from us – like your timetable link – and it will give you access to all the UTS College systems and networks you will need while you study.

You can activate your account no matter where you are.

Find out about what systems you will have access to, and activate your UTS email account here.

Classes and levels

English classes are divided into levels, and you will start your studies at a level that reflects your current English language capabilities. The length of your English program will vary according to your IELTS, TOEFL, TOEFL IBT, PTE, Linguaskill or VEPT test results and whether you want to then move to a UTS College academic program or to UTS.

If you have updated English scores from other English study completed after you submitted your application, be sure to provide any official documentation you have on the first day of orientation so that we can make sure you are placed in the correct class.

If you do not have a current IELTS or TOEFL test result, you will need to complete the UTS College placement test in the morning of your first day.

Use the table below to find out which level you may begin your studies at, and the minimum number of weeks you will need to study English before starting your UTS College program.

Academic English levels

To find out which level you may begin your studies at, and the minimum number of weeks you will need to study English before starting your UTS College program, go to Academic English entry requirements.

Information for student visa holders

The information above is based on UTS College academic advice. In some countries, Australian immigration guidelines may determine the length of English study. Please check first with your local Australian immigration office for your country’s guidelines.

Timetables

You are required to attend classes 5 times per week, 4 hours each day, in the morning or afternoon, depending on which level of English you are required to study, and which class you are placed into.

  • Morning sessions: 10:30am – 3pm (breaks at 12:30am – 1pm)
  • Afternoon sessions:  1:30pm – 6pm (breaks at 3:30pm – 4pm)

After you are enrolled, you can check your timetable whenever you need to on the eStudent site.

If you think you should be in a higher class or have any concerns about your timetable, you can contact our friendly Study Success Advisers for advice.

Changing your enrolment

Sometimes your circumstances might change and you will need to adjust your enrolment, cancel it, or withdraw. Changes should be made as early as possible.
