Staff raise funds for bushfire appeals

Severe bushfires in Australia have devastated lives, homes, farms, businesses and wildlife.
Severe bushfires in Australia have devastated lives, homes, farms, businesses and wildlife.

In response to the national bushfire crisis, staff at UTS Insearch held a fundraising morning tea in December. A shared concern for the shattering effect on people, wildlife, farms, business and the environment prompted many generous donations to the following appeals:

  • Australian Red Cross Disaster Recovery and Relief
  • RSPCA
  • Rural Fire Service (RFS)
  • Salvation Army Disaster Appeal
  • St Vincent de Paul Society Bushfire Appeal

Susan Sheringham, Program Manager, Foundation Studies, who has a house in a fire-affected community, shared her personal insights on both the physical and emotional devastation she had witnessed. Her words made clear the extent that communities, the bush and wildlife are suffering from the impact of these ongoing fires.

With the bushfire-season likely to extend for many months, cash donations of any size are the most helpful way to show support for those affected. UTS Insearch is pleased to have matched all staff donations, increasing the total donated to more than $15,000.
