“You build up a lot of stress, not only from yourself but also from your teachers, family and peers. But after I had completed my HSC I learnt that it’s not worth stressing over,” said Jessette Garcia.

Ms Garcia said that even though she didn’t receive her desired Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) in the HSC, she still found the right pathway to the degree she so badly wanted to study.

She got to UTS through UTS Insearch, successfully completing her Diploma of Design, and is now studying what she loves in her Bachelor of Design in Visual Communication. Her advice to this year’s HSC students is to find some balance.

“Don’t stress, remain calm and don’t forget to give yourself a break every now and then to stay sane.”
